CULTURAL CELEBRATIONS

Our cultural celebrations are opportunities for us to come together as a community and celebrate our heritage, culture, and struggle. We aim to balance the anti-oppression work we do with increasing and promoting our joy, love, and solidarity with one another Beaverton. Below are just a few examples of these programs.

Black History Month

While we celebrate Black history all year, we organize one or more events in February to uplift the stories of our ancestors and explore histories that have been left out of public school history books.

Kwanzaa

Beginning December 26 and lasting for seven days, Kwanzaa is a celebration of community, family and culture, and aims to reaffirm our African-rooted values and heritage.

Juneteenth

Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. We celebrate African American freedom and achievement, while encouraging continuous self-development and respect for all cultures.
